Imaging Technician- IMLS

The Cincinnati Art Museum has an immediate opening for a full-time Imaging Technician reporting to the Curator of Prints, Kristin Spangenberg.  This position is funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences grant and is effective from October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2014.  This is a temporary, non exempt, position that is benefits eligible.

Responsibilities: The Imaging Technician executes the digitization of images under the supervision of the Curator of Prints who will designate the sequence of objects for the inventory/ digitization project.  Images will be utilized primarily as content in the Art Museum’s online catalogue.  The lmaging Technician will process recently completed photography to ensure that production of quality images within the timeframe of the project. 

  • Process digital image files according to specifications of the Art Museum in consultation with the Head of Photographic Services.

  • Processing included basic color and contrast adjustment, cropping, some outlining and compositing.

  • Produces files and derivative files for use in the Art Museum and externally; follows Art Museum specification to produce color and digital assets.
  • Grant-related activities include art handling, camera operation using a digital SLR camera system and strobe lights, post-capture processing, packing and assembling studio equipment.
  • Manages Photographic Services digital assets utilizing a digital asset management software application and the Art Museum collection management software.
  • Follows Cincinnati Art Museum’s protocols, procedures, rules, and policies.


Requirements:
  Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience in a digital imaging related workflow.  Candidates should possess excellent organizational abilities, a strong knowledge of digital imaging related to software and hardware.  Candidate must have typing, word processing, and both numerical and alphabetical data entry skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.  Willingness to learn the Vernon CMS database system and how to record metadata and like images to this database.     

Candidates should possess excellent organizational abilities, strong verbal and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others toward the achievement of common goals.
